Curriculum design and planning

       The master’s program is primarily comprised of the basic major subjects, major subjects, master’s thesis, and electives. Basic major subjects include nursing theories, research methods, health assessment and testing, and advanced biostatistics. They emphasize the development of critical thinking, advanced nursing care knowledge and skills, and assessment skills.

      Major core subjects are comprised of theoretical courses I and II of eight specialized fields of nursing and two supporting practical courses. Apart from including contents concerning professional excellence and advanced nursing care actions and functions, the major core subjects also address relevant concepts regarding health promotion, stress and adaptation, human development, management and leadership, and studies of ethical issues across different specialized fields.

     The master’s thesis focuses on the development of advanced knowledge and skills of self-directed learning and critical thinking and requires students to apply related professional or general knowledge and skills to demonstrate the exploration of relevant health care issues. Meanwhile, students may make elective course arrangements in view of the competence areas to be enhanced as required for their professional development. Currently, the elective courses are divided into four major categories: advanced major courses, leadership and management courses, research courses, and general electives. In addition, there are also 6 credits given to the master’s thesis.
